DCYA TO DELAY MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

DCYA HAVE TODAY ANNOUNCED  THEY WILL POSTPONE THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT TO SEPTEMBER 2016.

– Existing Early Childhood Services will have until September 2016 to ensure that all pre-school leaders have a Level 6 qualification and all pre-school assistants have a Level 5.

– Early childhood services will need to provide evidence that staff are enrolled and engaged in training during this extended period.

– If you’re a new service registering with Túsla , staff will require minimum requirements.

This decision is aimed at providing the existing workforce with more time to meet minimum qualification requirements.

DCYA/Early Years Policy Unit aim to compile a list of approved qualifications by the end of 2015 to assist employers and Túsla Inspectors.
