Supporting children facing adversity

Barnardos have produced a document to support practitioners who may be working with or supporting children facing adversity. Covid 19 is a new adverse event in the lives of children. For some, any adversity is new to them, for others it is yet another adverse factor in their lives. The document aims to help you understand how adversity might impact on their lives and how you might be able to support them.

The document can be found here https://www.barnardos.ie/media/10658/barnardos-supporting-children-facing-adversity-during-covid-19.pdf

Open or closed

As you know, we are required to keep track of those services that are opened and closed in our area. This is so that essential workers requiring childcare can be directed to a service that might be able to accommodate them. We don’t want to be ringing you all the time to check if you are still open or still closed. So, if your circumstances do change, you have to close or you are able to open, can you let us know so that we can update our information.

REMINDER:

Minding ourselves

It is easy in the middle of all of this, to forget that Covid 19 is an adverse factor in our lives as well as the lives of the children and families we are working with. Fear, anxiety, constant tension, feeling exhausted all perfectly normal responses to the most abnormal of situations. The HSE have produced a booklet ‘Keeping well this winter’ which you can use to help you plan a little self-care. We have attached it to this email for your convenience. It can also be found here https://www.hse.ie/eng/services/news/newsfeatures/covid19-updates/partner-resources/keeping-well-this-winter.pdf

Kind regards
