Here are the important dates and information to note for the week 5-9 November 2018.
Early Years and School Age Capital 2018 Returns
Please be advised, all outstanding EYC and SAC capital returns must be submitted to Pobal by the 30th of November 2018. Any returns not submitted by that date WILL NOT receive the final 10% of the grant. Services that do not submit returns will be subject to funding being withdrawn and risk having to return the 90% of the grant that has already been paid.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
Fees Lists and Service Calendars 2018/2019
Please check the status of your fees list and service calendar as some are still ‘queried’ or in ‘draft’ format.
. Failure to notify WCCC of the changes may mean that your fees list/service calendar may be non-compliant with POBAL.
As per page 6 of the “How to Guide Fees list Service calendar” If the fees list is edited at any time throughout the year, the effective date selected must be one month after the service provider submits it for approval and has informed the parents.
Please note: If fees lists or service calendars are amended throughout the year it will result in having to reprint the service fees information letter and getting parents to resign the amended letter to keep on file for compliance purposes.
PIP PORTAL INFORMATION FOR HIGHER CAPITATION AND AIM LEVEL 1 (LINC)
In order to check the current status of your Higher Capitation application on the PIP Portal, please refer to the Higher Capitation section of the ‘My Service’ tab, or you can view the current status in the top right corner of the opened Higher Capitation application form.
AIM Level 1 (LINC) approval is confirmed via email notification issued by the AIM Team once application appraisal has been completed.
***The ‘Funding’ tab on your PIP Portal should not be used to check the status of Higher Capitation or AIM Level 1 (LINC) applications. This tab displays both Higher Capitation and LINC Capitation with an ‘Approved’ status for all ECCE Services by default, as all ECCE Services are entitled to apply for these extra Capitations i.e. approved for application. The ‘Funding’ tab can be used to check the funding amounts for Higher Capitation and LINC after the applications have been approved. ***
Online ‘GDPR for Management’ training
As you are all aware, the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came into force on 25 May 2018 and all organisations are responsible for ensuring that they are meeting their obligations under the GDPR. Of course, Data Protection legislation has been in force for quite some time and there is an obligation on all of us to ensure that we are compliant with all relevant legislation.
However, in response to concerns within the Early Years sector relating to GDPR readiness, the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) is offering complimentary online General Data Protection Regulation Training to all childcare services to support you in meeting your Data Protection obligations. This training is designed and delivered by iHasco.
This training will take approximately 40 minutes to complete and consists of tutorial videos and a separate test at the end. Slides may be viewed as often as you wish. Each service has only one credit for the course (i.e. the test may only be completed once) so only one email address may be used to access the course. Each service should consider who is the most appropriate person to complete the test at the end of the training. Each service can come in and out of the training as required until you have passed the test at the end. The default pass mark for the test is 60%. Once that mark is achieved you cannot retake the test. Each service will get a certificate on successful completion of the test.
Accessing the training: The training is available on the following link until 23 October 2019: https://app.ihasco.co.uk/zd32d3. Only an email address is required to log in. Each service should ensure they read iHasco’s Privacy Notice and Terms and Conditions.
DCYA hold no responsibility for the content of the course. It is at the discretion of each service whether they choose to complete the training. DCYA is not in a position to provide individual GDPR advice. Further details on GDPR and Data Protection can be found on the website of the Data Protection Commission: https://dataprotection.ie/docs/Home/4.htm
This online training is offered as a support for services in relation to GDPR obligations, and provides a high level overview of the principles of GDPR. Services will need to assess what further actions they may need to take to ensure they are fully informed of their responsibilities in relation to GDPR in an early year’s context.
